To Mother Me

To Mother Me

written by: Emalisa Rose

As she reached out for my hands
today, crossing over snow-clad
streets, I saw within my mother’s eyes
the tick of time’s divinity.

And I wondered, albeit selfishly,

of when her days on Earth unwind

who will be there…when she’s gone

to guide me through
when nights grow long

to sing to my happy birthday song..

who will be there, then
to mother me.
