Words Echo

Within that realm where ink and parchment combine
every swoop of our quill can conjure up a tale divine
The written word cavorts and capers upon the page
delights hearts, ignites minds, sets thoughts ablaze
For in those lines, once set free, a world of beauty lies
with imagination, a daring new adventure might arise
But when these words are heard, they ascend, inspire
a symphony of sound, melodic, dramatic, rising higher
As if elevated into something that is far more profound
expanding thoughts, thus transposing silence into sound
The written word is a gateway to enrich the weary mind
once spoken, transforms realms, where dreams reside
I am a retired Scottish septuagenarian. I began to write at the start of the pandemic, entering lockdown and the world of words simultaneously. I have many hobbies, but writing helps to fill an insomniac's dark quiet hours. I've been lucky enough to see various poems and short stories published, online and in print.
