Love Is Earth’s Sweetest Flower

Excising me from my antecedents,
the author transplanted me
in rich bitter dirt,
the harsh noon sun
and cold nights sought to wilt me,
and rains tried to drown me
but, I stayed rooted,
flowering in pungent dirt,
transmuting churlish hatred
as the author intended,
into Love’s sweetest gold,
proudly I stand, wearing my chartreuse crown.
Charlie Bottle's passion is poetry. He has lived on three continents, speaks five languages and loves different cultures, people, music and food.
