Nature’s Liege

A glorious tree stands
on it’s own
enrobed in multi-faceted
green moss
It’s twisted trunk
worn smooth with time
holds true and strong
although besieged
Antler racks
of elk and moose
branches stripped
of fruit and leaves
It quakes and shivers
in the cold north breeze
a stalwart birch
it’s nature’s liege
