Cold Weather

Cold Weather

written by: Brittany Benko

Cold slips in like a whisper,
A shiver that runs through the trees,
Tracing their bare arms against a pale sky

The wind, sharp and bitter,
Slices through scarves and sweaters,
Pressing its chill into bones

Breath hangs in the air,
A ghost of warmth,
Quickly vanishing, swallowed by frost

The world is hushed, wrapped in frost’s embrace,
Silent save for the crunch of footsteps,
Echoes of a distant warmth
