No One Owns Anyone

Domestic violence is a serious,
long-standing problem with no end in sight,
affecting countless people
and families around the world.
Ending domestic violence
isn’t just about creating a rule for everyone to follow.
It’s much more complex
because it relates to each person’s nature.
This scourge
is based on the aggressor’s lack of character
and poor training,
regardless of their educational background.

The victim ends up losing all self-esteem,
feeling trapped and powerless
in the face of the aggressor’s brutality.
This situation creates an atmosphere of fear
and isolation,
leaving the victim feeling bound hand and foot,
losing their autonomy and clouding their judgment.

The emotional and psychological toll
can be high,
leading to despair,
which is often difficult to overcome,
and often culminating in suicide.
Many victims
end up suffering from depression without realising it
because, due to repeated assaults,
they end up believing they are to blame for the abuse.
Shame forces them to remain silent,
sinking into a sea of confusion and subservience
that imprisons and crushes them.

Ultimately,
the impact of domestic violence
extends beyond the abuser/victim,
affecting children, human beings in the making,
communities, and society as a whole.
It’s up to all of us to speak out!

Domestic violence is abhorrent.
A person is not a thing.
The abuser often tells the victim:

I do this because I love you,

because I want you all to myself.

Don’t believe it, because that’s false,
he has a sick mind.

No one owns anyone!
