She Was Never Mine
written by: Burkley Grinstead
She’s like the stars I see at night. Beautiful, bright, too far to touch. Except I’m content where I am. Happy to just watch them from afar and admire their beauty. She’s like the morning air in my lungs when I’m running. It’s cool, and it kinda hurts, but I like it. She’s like the smell of my favorite bookstore, the kind you stay in for hours just roaming and taking in all the titles. She’s like a glass of water after eating a mint, cold enough to make you shiver, but also laugh. She’s like the feeling of clean laundry out of the dryer, the kind you hold in your arms and never want to let go of. She’s all my favorite feelings combined into one.
