the typified femme fatale
broken loose from
the prescriptive
her defiance fracturing
the neat margins
framed for damsels,
rewriting for herself
a new script
…sharp, uncompromising,
…loud in her silences,
…exuding confidence
declared misfit
non-conformist.
Unstitching the hems
of what a woman
should be,
She evolved in quiet rebellion
into a new avatar
standing tall, proud, alone, fearless,
with sharpened edges
…not against men
…not against women
…but against the narrowness
of lines drawn in chalk,
erased from her landscape
A silhouette strong
in its own outline,
owing no apology
to the borders
She has outgrown
