The Show
written by: G.R.F.
The curtain is closed
The choreo is over
The vocals ring out
So why are you still acting?
Why are you still in your costume?
Why do you wait for a line to come?
Yeah, you’re okay. Thanks for asking though
When you really just want to improv
You could barely find the will to get out of bed
Why do you wait for the directors to give you choreo
When you do the same thing every day
Stage directions are as follows:
Get home. Eat. Rot in bed
And this repeats
Day in and day out
Like a repeating line in your favorite song
Like a mantra you make yourself say
when things go wrong
The show is over now
There is no cast
There is no crew
No filled seats
No one there to cheer for you
No flowers in your arms
So why are you still acting?
Improv your life
Say what you want to say
Yeah, you didn’t want to get out of bed this morning
But you still made it through the day.
The curtain is closed
The choreo is over
The show came to an end
You can stop acting.
