The One

The One

written by: Michael Balner

Look at me, why don’t you see me?
I’m the one who makes trees dance,
I’m the one who carries birds
from far away – back to their nests.

Listen, can you hear me now?
I’m the one who makes grass weep,
I’m the one who puts lights out,
then coax you gently into sleep.

Touch me, can you feel me breathe?
I’m the one who makes land swell,
I’m the one who brings, unseen,
clear water to your deep, dark well.

Be me – and thus become yourself!
I’m the one who gives you strength,
I’m the one who lives inside you
from beginning to the end.

Let me soar and be fulfilled!
I’m the light in your dark eyes,
I’m the one who comes and goes,
yet never leaves and never dies.
