Blackbird’s Love

Blackbird’s Love

written by: Michael Balner

Of course that I noticed you
My smallest, dearest friend
One morning, as I walked alone
Lost in my thoughts, and then

Suddenly, I heard your song, like
Snowflakes from a pitch black sky
A tone by tone falling into my heart
So tender it made me cry

It made me feel all the joy
It brought back all the pain
And like always I stopped, listening
To your bittersweet, fair tale

Of shiny black velvet is your coat
You have a bright spark in the eye
I’ve always loved you – and your song
You’ve always loved me – and mine
