A Shameful Past

On June 19TH (Freedom Day), a plaque will be erected between Wall Street and Water Street finally giving credence to how Wall Street, The New York Stock Exchange and the seat of capitalism were built on the backs of enslaved black Americans.
Ironic that, that which represents the greatest city in the world, New York City, freedom and liberty, were created and sustained on slave trade and human suffering.
Wall Street, the hallmark of wealth and power, the seat of slavery and slaved produced commodities and, the root of greed, will not and cannot be absolved of these crimes against humanity by the offering of a simple plaque. This is simply an acknowledgement of a shameful past.
