Funeral Pyre

This one is for those who have loved, and lost.
Funeral Pyre…
Somebody said love was like a fire,
Tongues of love tease the stars in the sky.
Embers of passion burning warm and bright
Supposed to comfort you deep into the night;
But don’t get too close to the fire.
You might burn yourself.
Some people learn to curb their desire, and keep their love on the shelf.
My heart was burning like a funeral pyre, you fed me fuel and the flames got higher.
But then I saw the first tears in your eyes.
No matter what I did the flames began to die, and what you did to was not very nice; turned my heart into a chunk of ice.
No one can hurt me now that’s not my concern.
I stand little chance of ever getting burned.
I re-built the walls you struggled to break in, and this time babe, oh this time; they’re not so thin.

So don’t look at me today, I’ve just gone somewhere deep and far away.

So I walk right through your door, feeling empty.
I look back at you once more, memories of plenty.
As I hang my head in disgrace I walk away.
I let the rain mingle with the tears on my face, and walk the road of lonely.

So don’t look at me today, I’ve just gone somewhere deep and far away.

Some fool said love was like a fire, mine went out and I’m calling you a liar.
How can you love when you have no heart?
Don’t you remember babe, don’t you remember tearing it apart?
So I walk right through your door, feeling empty.
I look back at you once more, memories of plenty.
As I hang my head in disgrace I walk away.
I let the rain mingle with the tears on my face, and walk the road of lonely.

So don’t look at me today, I’ve just gone somewhere deep and far away.
So don’t look at me today, I’ve just gone somewhere deep and far away.
