Rain

written by: John Anthony Fingleton (Löst Viking)

The skies are grey and overcast-
The cat has washed behind his ears,
I am not surprised what’s coming soon,
As more dark clouds reappear.

The first sprinkles, are like some shy child,
As he approaches a sweet shop store –
Building up the anticipation –
Until his eyes grow wider, more and more.

Then the heavens opened up,
Uninhibited by the surprise –
The streets once unopposed by shoppers,
Become deserted, as gutters gargle up the rubbish where it lies.
