Soaring

Soaring

Tomorrow will I soar into the arms of death?
Sailing high above in her embrace
Flashing over dreamlike memories of life
Until betrothed by death I’m wed forever bones to stones.

Or will she cast me back and turn away?
Unworthy now or destined for another path
Confidence replenished, my soul re-energized
I turn and stand to face that challenge waits for me.

Yet another possibility could show her scorn – my courage lacking
For as I ponder there beside the canyon ledge
The wonder of eternity terrifies my fearful flesh
Overwhelmed, my faith too light to give me flight?
