Double Trouble

Double Trouble

written by: Cordilala

Trouble One and Trouble Two
Sit in the kitchen with nothing to do
But stare at the humans and their food
Troubles’ bowls are full, but people’s food is so good!

Strategically placed between the bench and stove
The furry black monsters keep an eye on above
Where the humans take fresh meat to the pan.
To catch anything falling, is their plan.

The humans complain, double trouble don’t move
Like a well-practiced dance, they’re in the same groove.
Persistence and patience soon pay off
Fresh meat for both, which they greedily scoff.

Day in, day out, it is the same
This has become a regular game.
Some days there’s no meat for the humans to share
In that case special treats are presented with care.

Trouble One and Trouble Two
Sit in the kitchen with nothing to do
But take their place in the nightly charade
In the pursuit of treats, a lifelong crusade.
