The Chaghoura

In a small chapel
20 miles north of the city of Damascus
Saidnaya rises above the town, like a fortress.

No matter where I go, the Chaghoura,
the beautiful gazelle will appear in my dream
like it did to Justinian, bidding me to betake myself to her shrine
