Afansas And Brendan
written by: Rimli Bhattacharya
“I am in love,”
“With whom?” Afansas asked.
“You”, I replied.
Afansas raised his heavy eyelids,
His pink eyes piercing my face,
“I love your blood, not you Brendan
Suck you as I need to suck the life out of you”
My neckline was burrowed by his teeth,
I wore a velvety skirt.
The color red, Afansas devoured.
“Love me Afansas,
Suck the life out of me,”
I said yet again.
He glanced at my neck
Patted it –
“Brendan I am your nightmare”
Afansas laughed revealing his fangs.
He inched closer,
Took me in his arms,
Kissing me hard he told me –
“Brendan think it over again
I am no human.”
I did not reply.
In his arms I closed my eyes,
He gently inserted his teeth in my veins,
The blood trickled down my neck,
As Afansas gargled a few drops.
Some trickled down his ceraceous skin,
I died in his arms.
No more was I scared of the garlic and crucifix –
For I am now a blood sucking vampire.
I am his lover but Afansas –
He left me in search of a new Brendan.
