African Violets

African Violets

written by: Valerie Dawn Goad

At first they start out as just a bunch of green leaves without a single bloom
But when I take them home, it’s like they come alive with life
Instead of looking sad and depressed, like death
Once they start blooming, they are so pretty
I’m put in a trance at the sight, almost giddy
The scent of new soil is invigorating too
Everything about African Violets makes me happy
