Andrea Visits

written by: Okey

“So how was Seattle?”
I ask Andrea.

“Suicidal,”
she groans.
“The men really are boys.
A woman can get the same
disappointment
from a young man as she can
an old man.”

“I’m sorry.”

“How did the voices treat you
in my absence?”

I should tell her.
She’s not happy.
I’m not happy.
Maybe this time,
I won’t be so stupid.
I should tell her.

“The usual…
Took me to the brink of
creative brilliance
then distracted me
with suicidal tendencies.”

I’m not going to tell her.
(Again.)

“What do you want to do tonight?”
Andrea smiles.
