Contest Of Affairs

Contest Of Affairs

written by: Józefa Ślusarczyk-Latos

we keep spinning around
around so many affairs
we gaze at the silhouette of the distant mountains
through clear air
we listen intently to the song of a bird in flight
to the sound of galaxies on October night
when houses are hushed and silence goes on
while the sky is thick with stars
we wake up suddenly
just before the white door-step
with hand-luggage and a guilty conscience
we see ourselves in the transparent wall
it needs to be crossed
to grip the helm of dawn

before we break through the thick flames
affairs shall dissolve and words shall blossom
face shall be left in the tree
