Fate’s Relentless Grip

This heart died some years back,
betrayed by the “she” of his dreams,
Delilah in the shadow of Mary,
Who preyed on him and his pocket.

His past, a billboard,
a reminder to stay away from L,
Yet, the Angel of love blows his trumpet again,
And surprisingly, he rises again.

He thought the new leaf would be a good one,
But only God can turn a reptile into a mammal,
His fate, the enemy of his dream,
Left him unlucky in redemption.

He was sent to the grave a second time,
Promising to remain deaf and dumb —
When the trumpet’s message sounds again,
Perhaps, the grave will seem like heaven.
