Mary Quite Contrary

Mary Quite Contrary

written by: Courtney Glover

Mary, Mary, quite contrary, how does your garden grow?
(Mary, dear sweet Mary, keeps her secrets well hidden, though)

With pretty little maids all in a row…

Mary, dear sweet Mary… for her behavior was quite strange.
I suspected nefarious deeds. I feared she was rather deranged.
But when I inspected her flowers… oh, my plans I should have changed!

With pretty little maids all in a row…

As I quickly dug in her garden… my utter shock! The horror! Oh no!
I had found her secret, buried (not so deep) in the soil below.
Her fertilizer, in a macabre twist, was in fact corpses, I now know.

With pretty little maids all in a row…

Mary’s beautiful flower garden was, in reality, a horrific mortuary.
My discovery too late, caught in the act. I should have been more wary.
For I became the latest victim. All of eternity, now in her garden, I would tarry.

With pretty little maids all in a row…
