Hello?

Hello?

written by: Sharona Reeves

Hello?
Did you even hear me?
No.
That’s not what I said. Not even close.
Am I invisible?
Are you deaf?
I’m breaking inside, and somehow I’m the one out of line?

Unseen.
Unheard.
Unworthy of grace or condolences.
Taught to suffer in silence.
People talk, spitting words of hate, never seeing the wounds they deepen, never knowing they help seal a fate.

A slow decay, a separation of mind, body, and soul.
Why even speak?
Smile. Nod.
Shrug it off.
Keep walking.
Nothing to see here.
No one’s listening.
Every day is a battle…uphill.
A battle to survive life through others’ eyes.
All the scars and the heartache are a final demise.
