Hourglass

Hourglass

written by: Brad Osborne

The hourglass of life filled with granular moments
The good indiscernible from the bad
Each moment drips by followed by the unknown next
The only certainty is all will pass in their time
Each can be an opportunity
Each can be a danger
Every grain will fall through the now
Shaped by our own perspective
Molded by our actions
Glinting in the light of self
Till they pile onto the heap of the past
The glass is clear where we catch and count the moments gone by
But above this moment there is the dark of not knowing
And the number of grains remain uncounted
We cannot see the sands of the future
Nor dwell in the dunes of the past
We have but the one grain of the present
