New Year!

Another year coming soon to an end,
and a new one just around the bend,
as we each other good wishes send,
in keeping with our annual trend.
I like to retrospect years going by reels,
and replay both facts and feels,
varied events hold different appeal,
and truths slowly simmer and reveal.
All actions have some return,
some easy and others stern,
some learnings come with burns,
and teach us how to discern.
Not all relations are forever,
some are sustained and others sever.
one need not always be quick and clever,
some doors open with a simple lever.
Myriad experiences make life’s turn(s),
some acts are better without a rerun.
and there’s always something to learn,
and something to unlearn.
Shalini Kathuria Narang is a Silicon Valley based software professional and freelance journalist. She has written and published extensively for several national and international newspapers, magazines and websites. She is originally from New Delhi and is settled in the Bay Area with her husband and two daughters for 25+ years.
