Nightmares

Nightmares

she’ll curl up in bed at night
and dream of things that just might-
in her dreams she’ll dream of you
but you’re in her nightmares too
her nightmares are of when you leave,
her chest gets tight and she can’t breath
she’ll wake up screaming, crying “why?!”
the next day she’ll fake it, lie
and say that yeah, she slept fine
but she’s thinking ‘are you mine?’
