Pain

Pain

I feel like a stranger
A day after the onslaught of pain,
Fighting like a doe in a tiger’s clutch
Trying hard to mitigate it with pain killers-
I am totally exhausted!

I feel like that
Faded
Tattered
Threadbare
Cloth with so many holes
Hanging alone on the yonder clothesline!

I have been washed
Bleached
Beaten to the core
All energy squeezed out
I slump into my
Garden chair and
My limp heart tries to find out
How much longer?

Counting hardly yield any answers –
May be till the threads of that cloth
Dissolve into thin air?
I shudder!
