Rescued

Ocean waves folded into one another,
overlapping a time that couldn’t be replaced.
Melted memories lingered
when least expected.
Angered by a broken shell,
sliced, bled uncertainty onto
the warm sand, reminded me
that I’m human.
Waited for the rain to stop as I
watched the seagulls dive deep,
soared a gray sky that
shadowed my feelings.
A ship,
lonely out at sea,
anchored in the shallow
waters where the fish never
bite.
Something released inside
as my grip could no longer
hold the pieces together,
divided me,
leaving me incomplete.
Far from where I was,
close to where I’m not,
the wind shoved me onward.
Brought me to a place where
clouds obscured my vision,
darkness covered me
as I drifted away
from an abandoned love.
Seaweed wrapped around
my wrist and ankles.
A child locked
inside a woman’s body,
searching for balance on
uneven sand.
The wind changed direction.
There was a rainbow
beyond the blurred horizon.
Sunlight sprayed across the ocean
onto my repaired
vessel that sailed out to a vast sea
to explore a new day.
