Sand Shifts

Sand Shifts

sand shifts, flickering, like diamond luster
dragonflies move their wings independently, hovering
ripe figs gingerly nudge tiny limbs, so her fruit falls from trees
dahlias slowly open their multi-colored hearts to give pollen to bees

oceans play on sand that has layers of treasures like petals on a floret
skillful hands tenderly peel away veils that cover my insecurities
your smile, like the alluring sound of a violin’s tune
beguile me, warm me like the sun does at noon

flurry of salty air cools our feverish bodies
meals of beach bugs, tiny mollusks in waves, are sanderlings
drawn by desire, we saunter through dune grass, as it anchors cutting wind
large green eyes smile, we hurry home, my lover, husband, and my best friend
