  1. Where, do you hail from?

I was born in Liverpool, England, and have lived here all my life.

  1. What is the greatest thing about the place you call home?

Where do I start! Liverpool is home to the Beatles of course and  Liverpool Football Club. Magnificent maritime history, a stunning waterfront, and Liverpool was chosen for European Capital of Culture 2008, and since then this fine city has gone from strength to strength.

I’m very proud to be a ‘scouser’
  1. What turns you on creatively?

It’s been a long journey of self discovery for me. Being in touch with my inner self, heightens all senses, helping me to write with passion and emotion ; now I have a strong link to spirituality, nature and oneness with the universe.

  1. What is your favorite word, and can you use it in a poetic sentence?

Soul…

” In stillness she waits
for the whispers from her heart
  Now it’s time
  to
  dance
  Such beautiful music
  Inside her soul ” ~JS
  1. What is your pet peeve?

Injustice and inequality … And bad manners!

  1. What defines Jan Smith?

Since a small girl, I’ve always been a ‘fixer’. Growing up in a working class background life was difficult for many of us. As an adult I dislike injustice, and inequality. Being able to express myself in the written word, through my poetry is a precious gift. I draw on personal life experience, academic and work based learning. There are many subjects/ topics close to my heart, including, guilt, fear, emotional pain, love, compassion, self discovery, vulnerability and forgiveness. I do upmost to spread loving kindness, and do my tiny bit to make a difference in this life.
