Swift As You Come

Swift As You Come

written by: Isioma Jemimah Okonicha

The shadow that chases me around
The nightmare that scares me the most
It’s a darker figure. A taller figure
That never gives up

He comes with a weight bearing a look of distain
He has a job that was to be done
And that is me!
I am Priority and nothing else

Thou worthless figure
Swift as you come after me
What cost do you carry?
What appointment do you come for?

I ran as he chased, I didn’t wait at all
This is what happens when you go for a win
All elements gather to stop you
But I refused to be caught.

I ran towards my goal instead
While he chased until he got weary and had to let me go
Then I discovered that I couldn’t be stopped
Once I knew what I wanted.
