The Cobbler

The Cobbler

Collaborating Minds

I am a cobbler

by design

Silent witness of endless miles

trodden by the young and old

Inside my humble cobbler’s shop

sit survivors of the road

Leather casts of traveler’s steps

baring scars of journeys past

Shoes and boots of every size

some stand tall others slouch

Some worn down in even stride

others weathered heel to sole

With extra love and tender care

I stitch and mend restoring life

Renewing hope to what was thought

no longer served returned to use

Bits of leather nails and glue

represent my cobbler’s shop

Refuge of so many lives

unimagined depth and breadth

The job well done

a craftsman’s pride

I bid farewell

then send them off

Bright and shiny

good as new

New adventures

to be won

Best foot forward

right or left

Mankind’s quest

has just begun

Miles and miles

so many paths …
