The Heart Of Christmas

The Heart Of Christmas

written by: Alisa Guttadauro

Peace, slumber, and holiday cheer,
warm winter wishes, through cold and ice tiers,
Christmas ghosts of past bring memories of old,
some of them good, some to never be told,
Pining for happiness in the year ahead,
wanting goodwill, with nothing to dread,
Ring in the new, forgetting the past,
wishing great tidings of the season to last,
Sharing warm cups of spiced buttered rum,
listening for the sound of the drummer boy’s drum,
Looking outside at the ethereal view,
making snow angels, a snow fight ensues,
The laughter of children, with cold red noses,
spending time with family, and feeling the closeness,
The scent of pine needles hovers in the air,
kindness and love, we all need to share,
The fireplace crackles, as the hearth warms,
even during mother nature’s mightiest storms,
Feeling grateful, as we give to those who have less,
our Savior is born, we are all truly blessed.
