This Dream

This Dream

written by: Himna Ahmad Khan

You starred as the lead in my dream last night,
Which was unlikely,
Because you usually deny any role in my reality,
But still,
You were there,
As we danced to the tunes of freedom,
Like we had never danced before,
As we laughed at the oddest of reasons,
Like it was the last time we ever would,
And it was just you and I,
Letting ourselves get drunk on the moment like we knew,
Like we knew that unlike how it usually goes,
This time I would be the one to walk away,
The very moment I open my eyes,
Like we knew,
That this dream,
Is all that we have together.
