Volare

wenn vieles nur noch Makulatur
und die Funktion das Sein überflügelt
bricht früher oder später das Eis
trotz aller Kälte
und ich sage ich kenne dich nicht mehr
und du redest von Fremde
und ich sage nichts mehr
denn Worte sind so schwer
aber ich singe das Lied
und ich schreibe das Wort
und ich sehe die Sonne und den Mond
und den Apfel und den Baum
und ich sehe die Aster und die Amsel
und ich sehe das Leben wie es pulst
und ich fühle die Schwere die mich hält
doch ich lerne zu schwimmen
und vielleicht breite ich die Flügel
aber erst suche ich den Halt zu verlieren

when much is just a waste
and function surpasses being
sooner or later the ice breaks
despite all the coldness
and I say I don’t know you anymore
and you talk about strangeness
and I say no more
because words are so difficult
but I sing the song
and I write the word
and I see the sun and the moon
and the apple and the tree
and I see the aster and the blackbird
and I see life as it pulses
and I feel the heaviness holding me
but I’m learning to swim
and maybe I’ll spread my wings
but first I must lose my footing
