Writing Like a Heartache

Writing Like a Heartache

written by: Jude Moore

A pen is like a heartache:
If one pricks oneself, one bleeds.
With one, truths invested write,
The other, a lack of what one needs.

A book is like a heartache:
Tales of war and power from above
Pains you just to hear those words
And wonder what it means to love.

A writer is like a heartache,
Crafting treasures full of wit.
Yet unappreciated, rejected, faltering
Criticisms of “This is it?”

Writing is like a heartache
For with both, one touches divine.
Yet even the heart has its own way:
For one is bliss, the other, pine.
