Winter Enlightenment

The trees were still in their wintry sleep
The sky grey like the ashen remains of a long deceased fire
Winds cut like blades of ice
While the rain fell like the tears of the world
It was then I knew that all things must pass
And I saw with my mind’s eye the magnificence of spring
The wild colored tulips erupting from their tombs
As the promise of summer
Appeared above me a white dove that circled
And vanished
Then I understood the temporal time
Of seasons
Every day is just a state of mind and
All creation sways to the rhythm of the universe

NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR:

Thoughts on a really cold winter day and the joy of realization that everything soon changes.
