Rejected Success

without rejection there is no success
there’s a difference in you, not like the rest
head down, alone, can’t do anything right
self-deprecation to my own delight
easy to see oneself as talentless
strong emotional state, feeling depressed
no compliment is worth my upturned lips
pity party’s over, time to right this ship
brightness of your eyes shows the positive
keeping sight of the goals, my directive
embrace the valleys as much as the hills
at the bottom hunger is never filled
there’s a difference in you, not like the rest
without rejection there is no success
RJ Tungsten lives in Charleston SC. He started writing Haiku and Senryu in January of 2020. He found that writing is a healthy outlet and way to deal with his anxiety. He enjoys taking beautiful pictures of the Charlston area and writing Haiku about them.
