My privilege is showing
Like a slip beneath
The hemline of a skirt

When I turn the news off
At the end of the broadcast
Instead of bombs I hear birds
Instead of bottled water
I get a drink from the tap
Instead of famine I eat
Instead of poverty
I walk to the store
Instead of floods I move freely
Instead of fear I have peace

I have no blood on my hands
But still I profit
From the blood of people before me
And a hell of a lot of luck

Most days stunningly unaware
