Reckoning

Reckoning

written by: Neha Y. Poojary

Life was hard,
When I was young.
Lost a gem of a person,
And it struck me hard.

Time flew by,
Surroundings changed.
My clock was stilled,
While I grieved the loss.

I trusted and was betrayed,
While searching a bond.
Walking alone in the crowded room,
Isolated and lost was I.

Survival was burdensome,
As I wrestled the devil within.
Realism was something I tried to feel,
But, I felt just so numb.

Acceptance from the world and self,
Was what I tried for months and years.
All I got was disloyalty and isolation,
Only then did I realise, the truth of my struggles.

Judgements were passed,
But I decided to move my stilled clock again.
When none stood by me,
I became my own home, standing my ground.
