Tell People About Me

Tell People About Me

written by: Henry Bladon

I am lost. Please help.

My existence is woven with doubt,
surrounded by my fears.

Stark shards of pain
thread through my head,
searing connections.

No thoughts edge through
the manic clatter
of jumbled sound.

Today no cascade of creativity.

I am alone.
I am tired.

Today there is darkness.
Tell people about me when I am gone.

NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR:

This is a poem inspired by Roquairol – Erich Heckel (Germany) 1917.
This woodcut image became a seminal artwork, inspiring David Bowie’s ‘Heroes’ album cover. It can be seen in the Metropolitan Museum Collection in New York.
