The Still of The Night

The Still of The Night

written by: Frances

I am out and open in the still night
To eavesdrop on the spirit of the night
To gain the moments alone among
In lit face and leisure
Walk upon the depths of my thoughts
Freely, let the demons and angels battle
To gain upon my soul.
I had come to write
To let the ink stored for future pour
Upon the blank and make life
To gaze into the dark and hear the calm voice
And write.
I have come to listen
Close my eyes and hear it all
To hear stories, hear lessons
To hear me.
In the quietness of the dark
I come to be
All thoughts I would name,
All life fought against.
I am awoken by the spirit of death
Now, that life is at sleep
To live.
