It ended long ago, leaving behind only longing and pain. This was meant to be forgotten, erased both from my memory and my heart. Yet, I still remember—the perfunctory sway of your fingers when you greeted me, the way your eyes caught the sunlight and turned everything golden.

But now, as I stand here, I wonder—do you remember too? The common paths, the quiet conversations, the laughter that once lived between us.

And then, our eyes meet. A flicker of recognition. A moment stretched too thin. I see the shock in your expression, the hesitation in your stance. You remember.

Would it make any difference if I told you that I do too?

I know it wouldn’t. And you know it too. That’s why, when I murmur a quiet hello, you clench your fingers, stopping them from swaying like they used to. We stand there, two people with a shared past and a separate present, both wondering the same thing.

What could have been?

Both made a step, coincidence in the very same moment, they moved closer in the eyes of each other but left their chattel of echo stranded in the piercing starlight…
