So Long

So Long

I will not buy it on my flesh so hard,
so long;
no longer will I carry it beneath my skin.
I have been strong, I have been weak
so long
is all I have to say,
it’s this before I break
down into a million pieces like the sun’s
refracted light
a froth of photons
spread out, infinite:
I will not bear it in my heart
so long, so long to you
I have to say:
though with you I have felt that I belonged
that time is done and now
I cannot stay.
