Standing at The Traffic Lights

Standing at The Traffic Lights

written by: Linda Joyce Cooper

Standing at the traffic lights
Waiting to walk across
A busy intersection
Traffic speeding past
Conversations from the café nearby
An Aeroplane flies overhead
People riding bikes
Drilling noises from the construction
all around
So much happening
My mind is pulled here and there
Then just a minute – I say to myself
Be still mind Be Still
And It does it obeys my orders
I am still
I focus on the little red figure
On the traffic lights
It’s totally still
A beautiful feeling
The noise disappears and distraction
Disappears
Green figure
Time to cross
All is well
