Each Prayerful Bite

Honor what you have
Each morsel
Savor The holiness of each meal
There is a deeper story
Not only of your consumption
Tales of the lives it has taken
To provide you consumer
With your combustion
Taking only what is needed
Safe guard what’s left for tomorrow
Starting at the wheat blown Prairie
Thrasher thrown to display shelf
See the bent back labor toiling
Taste the sweat from each brow
See your plates abundance
Always stop to wonder how
Bless the farmer and his cousins
Their beasts of burden
Bovine swine fish and fowl
These sentient creatures our brethren
Factory floor to table top
Honor the lives they have given
Do not waste their flesh with undue haste
Thank and fully appreciate
Each fork full
Where Once was life it’s soul now passed on
Remember all the innocent weak and hungry
Running from terrors strife and war torn streets
See their eyes imploring
Watching waiting praying for relief
Be ever thankful for what is provided
Make each meal thanksgivings promise
Bounty peace love and forgiveness
Bow your head to each meal
