CALIMA
poetry by Anne G
@TheInkTruth
The great Saharan’s desert sands
travel west within the Sal
across the vast ocean’s expanse.
Plumes of dust ride drafts of wind
hazing skies in hues of red
consuming air in torrid heat.
East meets West throughout the year
from sun scorched distant desert lands
to lush and verdant tropic isles.
Natural phenomena
Calima
makes its presence known.
NOTE:
SAL (Saharan Air Layer)
Calima: Name given by the natives of the Canary Island for this naturally occurring phenomenon.

Why write?
I write because I am:
Driven to distraction by the inequities of the society in which we live.
Motivated by cruelty, abuse, ignorance and indifference.
My intention: To poke, prod and provoke!
"Moderation is a fatal thing. Nothing succeeds like excess." - Oscar Wilde
