Dogs of March

Dogs of March

These dogs bound off to lead my way
As drops of moonlight glisten still
Eagerly we dash off in quest to find our day
Inner warmth finds me, each step a test of will
Patient they have been at rest pretending sleep
Now we toil in march as dawn brings light our way
Vigilant my friends feel me when I need their keep
Collapsed in a pile their tongues massage my aches away
By candlelight my flowing tears revealed,
Now dawn, these meteors rest concealed.
