Leave A Mark, Not A Scar

Leave A Mark, Not A Scar

written by: Troy DeFrates

As lovers explore the facets of each other,
there are sides that reflect the burn of exposure,
denying explanation, denying adoration.
Would they tempt fate,
with those alluring lies that mend an ego?
Desiring to hold each other tight,
the lovers embrace the other as tightly
as a poet squeezing the romance out of every word.

Has the adrenaline abuse tracked scars into the emotions
of the lover’s response,
would they tempt fate,
with those alluring lies that seduce a lover?
Holding the other tightly, as tightly as a poet
squeezing the romance out of every nuance.

Waking together to find a romance to make
the morning jealous,
the lovers feel the syncopated air created by their breath,
dissolving the resistance,
To see yourself,
To be yourself,
To feel yourself.

Holding her tightly, as tightly as a poet
trying to squeeze the romance out of every inflection.

She whispers….Leave a mark…..Not a scar….
